Christmas Give-a-ways

I made a bunch of these for Chrstmas Give-a-ways for my DH's fmaily x-mas party. Each was slightly different, but this gives you the general idea. I totally cased it from Cambria Turnbow, from her post nearly a year ago. I think they turned out well. You should be able to click on the image to get a larger version.

And of course Mr Murphy was in attendance; on the way to DH's aunt's, the magnets that I had glued to the back were coming un-glued! And he (DH, not Mr Murphy) wouldn't take me home to fix them. So we stopped on the way at a gas station that was open and bought some crazy glue. When I arrived at his aunts, I snuck into a side bed room and re-glued all of them, the ones that hadn't come off yet, I forced off, then re-glued. So they were ready to hand out later. I can't imagine what people would have thought if those magnets had waited a full day before falling off! At least I had a chance to fix them! :)

On a completely different note, I bought a computer game for myself for x-mas, called The Witcher. But my computer system can't handle the game, and of course Best Buy won't take it back, since its open. So if there is anyone out there interested, it's up on eBay now. Take a look, won't ya?

At long last, A Post!

Four months since my last post. Meh. But no apologies, I blog without obligation.

So, the Harry Potter Night went Super Well. I had a blast, and so did the thousand or so people who came to the store. I was very hoarse by the end of the night. I'm surprised I didn't lose my voice altogether with all the yelling I did. I got to emcee the costume contest - without a PA system. :p

The book - well. Lets just say that JK Rowling really outdid herself with the last book. It was fabulous and made me cry several times. It is one of the best books I've ever read. And I am ready to re-read it now.

Thanksgiving is in a few days, my mom and siser and her brood are coming over. My dh has to work that day. I haven't yet told him that my family will be coming over. He'll make me clean the house if I do tell him! My family loves me and my messy house. (ok, its not so bad, but he'd make me clean it anyway)

(TMI ALERT)

On the personal front, I had my IUD removed last month. So now it's time to get serious about getting pregnant. Idealy, dh would like to wait until Januery, it makes more fiancial sense to have the baby in October, when business (and money) picks up at the resturant where he works. And since my maternity leave is unpaid, it really does make sense. But I've waited long enough! Besides, if I can get preg this month, that means a August birth, which is good for school. The cut off date for school starting is September 1st around here. (Its good to plan ahead!)

I did some stamping recently. I went to my monthly stamp camp that my upline hosts (and allows me to attend, shes awesome!) Here are some pictures.

This is a gift card holder and its roughly 2 3/4 by 4 1/4 inches.

This card is made with the pick a petal set. Clever isn't it?

This is a tri-fold card. The green is on the second layer and the snowman is the inner most layer. It's also a non-standard sized at 4 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches.

And lastly, this is one of a double page spread we did. The other isn't finished, the mattes were left off so it could be custom made after the pictures were decided on. I have no idea what pictures will eventually end up here. Maybe something from the upcoming Christmas.

I've got some more scans, but they can wait.

Have a great night!

Harry Potter and the Week of Waiting

Exactly one week from tonight, I will be at work. And I will be excited to be there! For those that don't know, I work in a bookstore. And the biggest event in the entire industry right now is, of course, the release of the next, newest, and LAST Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Just about every bookstore in the country will be staying open late next Friday in order to begin selling the book at midnight. And we will be no exception.

The Hallows Ball, as Borders is calling the event, will be full of events, prizes, and fun. And I will be right in the middle of it!

But anyway, I was also excited when I went to work earlier this week and discovered that our first shipment of the books had arrived. Of course we can't open them. We all had to sign this piece of paper basically saying that if we do anything we aren't supposed to, they will own us and all our descendants to the third generation! LOL Of course I'm being silly, but they are NOT. Deathly serious.. if you are caught releasing the book, or any number of things, it can carry a jail term. Wow.

But I got permission (from my general manager) to show you a picture of the (still sealed) pallets of books.

There is nothing on them that specifically say that they are the Harry Potter books, but each one did have this sign on it...

What else could it possibly be?!? LOL

Anyway, I am counting down the days until the new book arrives. Anyone else can't wait?

Blog Tag, I'm it?

I've been tagged! Kristy, of Posts from the Stamp Garage, has tagged me in a game of Blog Tag. So I have to share 7 things about myself, then tag 7 other bloggers. So here goes!

1) I was born in CA, but raised in Texas. Proud to be a Texan!
2) I have three different college degrees.
3) I spent 4 years in the Army, 96-00.
4) I have never been to Mexico or Canada, but I have been to Europe.
5) My hair is naturally red (just not the actual red that I have now!)
6) I had plastic surgery when I was 18 years old.
7) I've lost nearly 40 pounds in the past year.

So now it's time to tag some others. I'm tagging....
and now it's time for me to goto work!

And away she goes!

OK, first order for the new Stampin' UP! year has been ordered! I even sprung for the extra $20 to have it shipped today!

My total order was for $300, but about a third of that was for prizes for the girls who won my Survivor game I do each year in the spring and fall. These ladies wanted to wait for the new catty, so their stuff is on the way. The rest of it's mine!

I'm getting 5 stamps sets - Garden Whimsy, En Francais, Sanded, Sealed with a Kiss, and Bud Basics. My accessories I ordered are the new circle punch and the scallop one, the new vintage brads, and the pretties kit, a roll of taffeta (vanilla & chocolate), double stitched (pommy), and a wide grosgrain ribbon (celery). Also picked up some textured 12x12 in regals, and got the storage caddy too. Its gonna be so much fun when then stuff arrives in a few days!!

Now I have to work on some stuff for my VC Rocks Roomie and Friendship Swap.

Talk at ya later!!

It's Good to Want Things....

Man oh Man, am I in trouble.

I'm sitting down this evening, making out a list of what I want out of the new SU catalog, and the sticker shock is pretty severe. And I'm not even listing everything I want, not by any means. I'm listing stuff that's near the top of my want list.. Things that I can see myself buying in the near future. I have one page of stamp sets, and one of accessories. they total over $500. wow.

Now I have to take this list and whittle it down to around $200, if not $150. That's gonna be hard. I'll post later when I have decided what to get.

(shaking head at self) man.....

Posting a picture

Ok, so this blogging business isn't all that easy. There are all kinds of options for every aspect of blogging. Its almost enough to make ya turn off the computer! Well, not really, I never actually turn my computer OFF. Why would anyone ever want to do that?

Ok, I'm getting side-tracked. The purpose of this post is to get a picture of me into the blog, so I can link to it in my profile. This picture was taken in January, right after i cut all my hair. Thats right, my hair used to be really long, like down to my butt long. Now its not. :) I did donate it to locks of love though.

So there. I now have a picture. Goodie for me.
